My Speech

“Have you had a shower lately?” “When did you last wash your hair?” “You could grow potatoes behind those ears if you don’t wash them soon.” - All annoying things that parents say when they think it time for you to get clean. Well, I am here to tell you why children should definitely not have a bath or shower every day!

It would be a great way to save the planet, because we would be saving water, power and less waste water would be going into the sewerage. If I only had a bath once a month, then I would not be wasting 29 days worth of electricity heating the hot water to fill the bath.  If I only had a bath once a month, then I would save 29 days worth of perfectly fresh water that could be used to feed stock. If I only had a bath once a month, then there only be one day that a bath full of filthy grey water went into the system, and for the other 29 days there would be none.

If all children only bathed once or twice a week, then no one would be any smellier that anyone else. In the old days families only had a bath once a week. They used to fill up the bath and the father would go first, then the mother and then all of the children from oldest to youngest.

By the time the baby had a bath the water was cold and disgusting. That’s why people say, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. If it was ok back then, surely it would be ok now. All children smell bad, so if none of us were to bathe every day then adults wouldn’t be able to tell who stinks the worst, because we would all stink. There would be no more ‘smelly kid’ in the class because there would be 20 smelly kids.

Kids are far too busy to have a bath everyday. We are too busy doing all of the homework that teachers pile onto us. That takes hours, so there’s not enough time for a bath or shower. We are also too busy having fun with our friends, playing and hanging out. We are far too busy running around outside getting sweaty and muddy - there simply isn’t enough time to be mucking around with a boring old bath.

If I only had a bath once a month, then I would save 29 days worth of perfectly fresh water that could be used to feed stock .All children smell bad, so if none of us were to bathe you wouldn’t know who smelled worse. We are far too busy getting dirty to waste our time getting clean. It would be a great experiment… plants grow in dirt, in fact they can’t grow without it… I say let the children get as dirty as possible and see how big they grow!
